Torre Guaceto

WWF protected area fo Torre Guaceto near Ostuni in Puglia, Italy

The area of Torre Guaceto has a 20 km coastline with beautiful beaches with clear sea, sandy dunes, different habitats and landscapes, wetlands and Mediterranean vegetation. In 1991 the area was declared 'Marine nature reserve and land of international importance'.

The protected area of Torre guaceto is divided into three zones:

Zona A is located near the Aragonese tower and also includes five small islands. Here is allowed only scientific research and are possible only guided tours.

Zona B includes the north side of the tower to Punta Penna Grossa. Here is permitted bathing.

Zona C extends from the beaches of Penna Grossa to the beaches of Apani. This area is allowed swimming, fishing and boating but only with permission.

Getting there

From Ostuni take the E55 Motorway to Brindisi. You will find exit for Torre Guaceto at about 20 km.
